Goddess of learning, wisdom and art
From the «Inspired by the Vedas» series
In Vedic scriptures, the goddess Sarasvati is the goddess of learning, wisdom, knowledge, music, arts and skills. In Sanskrit, Sarasvati means "the essence of one's identity." Goddess Sarasvati is the wife of Brahma, the creator of the world, and, consequently, is herself the source of all knowledge. Since knowledge is necessary for creation, Sarasvati symbolizes the creative power of Brahma.
She is beautiful, elegant, graceful and radiant with the light of knowledge. Sarasvati is composed of surasa-vati. It means the one with a great abundance of water. In the same way that dirt and impurities are washed away by a stream of water in a river, ignorance in the manas (mind) is carried away by the knowledge and wisdom that Sarasvati embodies.
She is the river of consciousness that gives life to creation, the goddess of dawn whose rays dispel the darkness of ignorance. I wish your life to be permeated by her extraordinary blessing.
